Bike & Hike

My name is Lawrence Lynn I am a middle aged man who works in an office and generally goes to work, drinks free coffee and sits at a desk all day long. I have a love of the outdoors and a passion for biking and hiking. I have decided to take on this challenge in aid of the Scott Bell fund and awareness of MND and I hope you will help to support, donate and encourage others to help in supporting this cause.

The Cheviot Challenge on Saturday 27th August is a 17 mile hike and over 2500 feet of climbing. For 2011 the starting point is Alwinton Northumberland and will take in Barrowlaw Hill, Nettlehope Hill, Kidlandlee Dean and Clennell Street and finish at Alwinton. I am hoping to complete this in under 5hr. One of the highlights of the summer calendar, there is usually around 2000 people clambering through the hills on the day.

The Great North Bike Ride, on Sunday 28th August is a 60 mile road trip from Seahouses to Tynemouth, taking the coastal route from Seahouses and finishing at the Priory in Tynemouth. Around 3000 people take part in the event and I am hoping to complete this in 5hrs.

The challenge starts at 9am on Saturday morning and this will mean travelling to Alwinton the night before camping out registering at 7.30am and setting of at 9, hopefully completing this by 2pm, travelling back to Newcastle then the next morning setting off at 6.30am to arrive in Seahouses by 8.30 for a 9am start. Cycling the 60 miles back to Newcastle and finish that afternoon to a well deserved pint.
