Fundraising Campaign Description

End Date: Mar 30, 2012 10:00 PM

Mount Kinabalu is Southeast Asia’s highest summit at 4,095-metres. It is located on the east Malaysian state of Sabah, on the island of Borneo. The mountain has a Via Ferrata path (via ferrata is Italian for iron road) which has been certified by the Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR) as the world’s highest and Asia’s first.

Most climbers take two days to ascend and descend Mt Kinabalu. The climb generally starts from the the Timpohon Gate near park headquarters (1800m), with an overnight stay in Laban Rata (3273m), before pushing on to the summit early next morning. Climbers then descend the mountain, generally reaching the park headquarters by mid-afternoon.

The climb demands a good level of fitness and the via ferrata route will definitely test a climbers nerve as well as their determination to achieve their goal. The climb will call on climbers to have willpower, pushing through fatigue and discomfort in order reach the summit.

The climb will take place on the 3 – 5th February 2012.

I’m climbing to help Scott and his family bring more attention to MND and raise money to contribute to on-going research, which is currently looking at the causes of the condition and ultimately a cure.
