My name is Vishnu Karthigeyan and I am a junior studying Biomedical Engineering. I am planning to go to medical school after my undergraduate education. I participate in various clubs such as PCs for Refugees, the Global Health Student Association, and the ASU chapter of Doctors without Borders. I would like to participate in the Global Medical Brigade on behalf of ASU this summer because I believe it would be a great opportunity to learn more about healthcare while simultaneously channeling my efforts toward the betterment of a society. It is especially exciting because we have the ability to directly enable a community that is completely separated from our own.

Global Brigades USA is the world's largest student-led global health and sustainable development organization. Our mission is to empower volunteers and under-resourced communities to resolve global health and economic disparities and inspire all involved to collaboratively work towards an equal world. Since 2005, more than 30,000 volunteers from 800 university groups have traveled to implement our nine skill-based programs to benefit more than 600,000 community members in Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, and Ghana.
