About Us
Serve Yavapai's mission is to help build and sustain the efforts of Yavapai County service providers and community members to continually improve the quality of life across the region. We work to support efforts in creating a just and healthy community.

As a National Service project of Prescott College, Serve Yavapai is an inherently volunteer-based program. We recruit, train and place AmeriCorps VISTA members to not only serve our community themselves but to also recruit community members to serve alongside them.

On National Days of Service: Serve Yavapai partners with the Yavapai County AmeriCorps Project, of Community Counts, to address community needs.

MLK Day of Service
Serve Yavapai will host service projects that will go on to support local schools, veterans and military families, and our environment. A centralized kickoff celebration will be held the morning of MLK Day with a keynote address to rally participants around the life and legacy of Dr. King. We are hosting this day of activities in hopes of inspiring volunteerism throughout the year and helping communities county-wide improve their access to services that provide basic needs; support out local schools, and honor the accomplishments of our veterans and service men and women. With a focus on education, literacy and employment for all people in Arizona, volunteers can participate in meaningful work to help each other grow and connect with a sense of unity and compassion for each other’s efforts. There is no more fitting way to honor Dr. King’s memory than by serving others, particularly those most in need. As Dr. King himself said, “Life’s most urgent and persistent question is: ‘what are you doing for others?’” Service Projects Include: Humboldt and Prescott Unified School Districts:These project will support our local schools by providing school grounds maintenance, while offering volunteerism as an element of education. Activities will include painting, weeding, cleaning, and replacing basketball hoops. Northern Arizona VA Hospital: This project will give community members an opportunity to honor the hero’s who fought for our country. Volunteers will clean out attic storage area and improve the facilities of Northern Arizona VA Hospital. DAV Thrift Store: This project will support the efforts of Prescott Disabled American Veterans which provides services to better the lives of disabled veterans in our community. Volunteers will help clean their facilities and organize the hundreds of donations they receive daily. A Facelift for CCJ (Coalition for Compassion and Justice): This project will educate community members about issues of poverty and the existing services in our community. Volunteers will help clean and organize facilities for feeding and clothing people in poverty. Volunteers will help create a pleasant, safe, and supportive environment for people seeking basic human needs and for CCJ\'s weekly volunteers. Sharing Stories of Service with US VETS: This project will build relationships between community members and homeless veterans. Together, they will educate one another through shared stories of life experiences and engage in a service project to support veterans in hospice. Boys and Girls Club: The Boys and Girls Club provides a safe place for kids and teens to learn and grow. This project will engage community volunteers in a variety of activities including weeding, pickup, painting and organizing storage units.
