About Us
Community Connection of Northeast Georgia (est. 1983) strives to fulfill its mission to
nurture, develop, and maintain information and systems which empower individuals and
communities to access needed resources and services.
HandsOn Northeast Georgia (HONEGA) a program of Community Connection provides
a single entry point for volunteers to engage in service via an online database that lists
volunteer needs for 133 agency partners. Over 14,000 users have registered with this
database. HONEGA hosts several days of service each year, including the MLK Day of
Service and events associated with our FamilyServe and SingleServe initiatives. In all,
13,223 hours of service were completed by HONEGA volunteers in the past year.
MLK Day of Service has been celebrated by community service projects in Athens for TEN YEARS! Individuals and group organizations can help by serving. All Athens area service projects will be posted on http://handsonnega.org/athensmlk after December 1, 2011. Please visit the site after this date to choose a volunteer project site for this year\\\'s MLK Day of Service.
