Cornell University Dental Brigades

Cornell University is a chapter of Global Dental Brigades, an international movement of students and medical professionals working alongside local communities and staff to implement sustainable health systems. We work in remote, rural, and under resourced communities in Honduras, Panama, Nicaragua and Ghana who would otherwise have limited to no access to health care. Each community receives a brigade every 3 to 4 months where hundreds of patients are provided access to dental & medical care and volunteers deliver public health workshops. Electronic patient records are collected for future visitations and to monitor overall community health trends. In conjunction with our Medical & Dental Programs, Global Brigades also supports communities with economic development, sanitation and clean water projects, and uniquely implements these programs in a holistic model to meet a community’s health and economic goals. Our model systematically builds community ownership and collaboratively executes programs with the end goal of sustainably evolving to a relationship of impact monitoring. CUNY City College of New York Business Brigade Class

CUNY City College of New York Business Brigades Chapter is a chapter of Global Business Brigades, an international movement of university students and professionals building economic opportunities in the developing world. We work alongside promising entrepreneurs and experienced year-round staff to create financial opportunities in remote, rural, and under resourced areas of Honduras and Ghana. We work with communities to build community-owned banks to provide access to loans, savings accounts and financial literacy for community members. Volunteers assist in consulting micro-enterprises, assessing loan capacity payments and providing financial literacy workshops to families. In conjunction with our Business Program, Global Brigades also supports communities with healthcare, sanitation and clean water projects, and uniquely implements these programs in a holistic model to meet a community’s health and economic goals. Dalhousie Public Health Brigades Panama

Public Health Brigade volunteers empower under resourced communities in the developing world to decrease life threatening diseases by improving home infrastructure and providing public health education through a 7 day Public Health Brigade in Honduras and Panama. Student volunteers can either join an existing Public Health Brigades chapter on their campus or create their own chapter and recruit other volunteers. Working side-by-side with community members, volunteers improve the overall infrastructure within the home through the construction of four projects: eco-stoves, latrines, water storage units and concrete floors. The four projects were chosen based on observations of medical brigade patient records.

Davidson College Medical Brigades

Davidson College Global Health aims to improve access to health resources and promote health fluency locally and globally. Among other activities, members volunteer at local clinics, facilitate blood drives, and host fundraising events for Health Reach and other organizations in the community. This year, 16 members have the exciting opportunity to take DCGH’s mission one step further and participate in a Medical Brigade in Panama in May 2022. Global Brigades is a non-profit organization that uniquely implements holistic models to meet communities’ health and economic goals. Since 2008, Global Brigade has refined a holistic approach specific to the strengths and goals of Panamanian communities to grow local economies, improve access to healthcare, and empower families with legal resources to resolve disputes and formalize businesses. In Panama, Global Brigades provides primary health care services to small, under-resourced, rural communities with limited to no access to medical care. During the Brigade, students will work in triage, shadow physicians, provide educational workshops, help distribute medication in local pharmacies, and increase the knowledge of chronic illness screening techniques among community health workers. This work will support Global Brigades’ efforts to close the health inequality gap in these communities. We thank you for your generosity in advance.
