What Volunteers Can Do
Give A Day Global volunteers can work with local staff in monitoring the sea turtles by joining in on boating expeditions to trap and tag turtles and study their behavior patterns. They can also help with the mangrove reforestation projects to restore the natural coastal environment which is important to the sea turtles and all wildlife.

A Snapshot of the Osa Peninsula
The Dulce Gulf along the Osa Peninsula is a rare tropical fjord and is recognized as one of the 25 biodiversity hotspots of the world. It is a unique and critical habitat for many species, including two endangered species of sea turtles: Hawksbill Turtles and Green Turles. Threats to these turtles’ survival include fishing, poaching, and the loss of critical habitat due to deforestation, pollution, and climate change.

About LAST
Latin American Sea Turtles Association (LAST) is a conservation organization that studies, monitors, and advocates for the sea turtles. LAST’s primary activity at this location is to collect data about the turtle population in order to build our knowledge base about turtle behavior, health, and population changes. LAST also hosts a rehabilitation center for injured sea turtles. Finally, they conduct reforestation projects to improve the habitat for the sea turtles.
