What Volunteers Can Do
When you volunteer with Zawadisha, you are doing more than providing a day of free services. You are connecting with other individuals who will be honored that you are taking your time to work with them. You will be welcomed into their homes and treated as family. As a volunteer with Zawadisha, you will experience things that the average visitor will not. You will spend time getting to know our members, have a meal with them, and provide hands-on business training activities with our members who receive micro-loans. All of the curriculum/activities will be provided to you in advance and you will receive an orientation from our in-country program director. This isn’t charity, it’s change.

A Snapshot of Kenya
Kenya is known for its magnificent scenery and the warmth of its people. The country provides a rare opportunity to visitors to explore the wildlife of the Masai Mara one day and the culture of Nairobi the next. However, with a 40% unemployment rate, there is an incredible opportunity to support economic development and improve the lives of people living in poverty who call Kenya their home.

Zawadisha is an innovative microlending organization that arms women with access to capital and the life-saving tools they need to lift themselves out of poverty. Our model is building a stronger world, one in which women are self-sufficient, successful, and stand on their own two feet. At Zawadisha we are working with Kenyans to build cultures and communities of cooperation and we foster relationships of mutual support and solidarity with our members.
