Cyrus Peirce Middle School

The Cyrus Peirce Middle School group, led by Spanish teacher Janet Emack, plans to return to Costa Rica for the second year. As a Global Education Squad the group will again partner with an elementary school to improve educational outcomes. The group will stay at our private and safe home-base accommodations Cartago where our local professional staff provide all transportation, food, lodging, and activities. The group will be matched with a local school where they will spend each weekday morning completing valuable small construction projects and classroom support. Each afternoon the group will embark on fun and engaging guided cultural and adventure activities around Cartago. On the weekend the group will travel to La Fortuna and Arenal National Park to explore the rainforest, waterfalls, and zip-lining! See attached flyer below for more trip details and pricing. Dacula High School Global Impact Squads

Dacula High School aim to transform under resourced schools abroad into inspiring learning spaces with improved educational outcomes. Our Squad travels abroad to provide in-class support and hands-on projects that improve learning environments, such as building computer labs and libraries, renovating classrooms, and improving outdoor recreational spaces. Each of our student volunteers has a donation goal to help cover logistical expenses while abroad such as transport, local staff, meals, insurance, accommodations, but most important the year-round follow-up to our project by local staff to ensure the sustainability over time. Davis Senior High School

Squads Abroad is the high school division of Global Brigades, a highly recognized international development organization that uniquely implements a Holistic Model that targets specific UN Sustainable Development goals within partner communities. Our model systematically builds community ownership and collaboratively executes programs with the end goal of sustainably transitioning to a relationship of impact monitoring. Collectively, we are working towards our Empowered 100 initiative, a commitment to support 100 rural Central American and West African communities that represent about 65,000 persons to permanently rise out of global poverty through 3 core components: healthcare, WASH, and economic development. The goal is to create a blueprint to help end rural poverty in our lifetime and Squads Abroad and Global Brigades play a large role in doing so. 100% of the funds you raise will target ending respiratory diseases, decrease the spread of infectious diseases and parasites, improve hand washing and hygiene, and provide education for community program leaders. Join your peers to raise funds for defined projects and donation goals that benefit an under-resourced communities in Honduras and help us reach our Empowered 100 goals.

DeBakey HS Global Health Squad

The DeBakey HS Global Health Squad plans to travel to Guatemala from July 2-8, 2018. As a Global Health Squad the group will partner with a local elementary school to resolve public health challenges and complete much needed small construction projects that support healthcare. The group will stay at our private and safe home-base accommodations in Tecpan where our local professional staff provide all transportation, food, lodging, and activities. The group will be matched with a local school where they will spend each weekday morning completing valuable small construction projects and classroom support. Each afternoon the group will embark on fun and engaging guided cultural and adventure activities around Tecpan.

Delphi Academy

The Delphi Academy-Refugee Support Squad will volunteer at the Ritsona Refugee Center located 20 minutes outside of Chalkida, Greece from August 11-18, 2019. Managed by the UN’s International Organization for Migration (IOM), the Ritsona camp houses over 900 refugees seeking asylum throughout the EU. In supporting operations at the Food and Clothing Distribution Center, Female-Friendly Space, and Laundry Facilities at the camp, the group will experience the tangible accomplishment of much needed small construction and infrastructure projects. Each afternoon the group will engage in guided cultural activities and local excursions in the local area. On the weekend enjoy a full day guided tour of Athens and the island of Evia. Steps to register for your trip at your webpage on Empowered: 1. Go to the webpage for your group and click on the button that says "Volunteer with Us" on your webpage. When registering on Empowered for the first time you will be directed to take the additional step of registering with Empowered first and you do so by clicking "Join Now" (lower right) on the green Empowered page. When registering with Empowered use the name of the person going on the trip and any email and password you choose. You will need to verify your enrollment in Empowered at the email address you provide. 2. Once you're registered and logged into Empowered (you can tell by looking to the far right side on the top red banner), go back to the same group page and click 'Volunteer with Us' again on the page. You will then be directed to the Participant Registration Form. You must fill out the "Participant Information Section" down to "Complete your Registration" and then scroll down to the bottom and click "Save". You can complete the rest of the information and forms at a later date by returning to your profile page (accessed via the tab on the blue bar on the top to the far right where it says "Hello, your name") and then go to "Initiatives" tab on your profile page and select "Edit Signup Form". 3. Once a volunteer is successfully registered on the trip you should see your profile appear on the group initiative page. In order to make a payment for an individual or the group contribution, you again go back to the group page and click "Donate Now". You will be directed to a screen that will prompt you to make a payment/donation to a specific volunteer or the group/general fund. Please note when making a payment you're given the option to waive credit card fees by unchecking the box after putting an amount.
