Coppell HS Global Health Squads

Coppell HS aims to improve health care access and sanitation infrastructure for children in under resourced communities abroad. Our Squad travels abroad to conduct mobile health clinics for children that include primary health care and vision and dental screenings. We also learn about and address some of the systemic issues behind preventable diseases in the community by implementing health workshops and building handwashing stations alongside local students. Each of our student volunteers has a donation goal to help cover logistical expenses while abroad such as transport, local staff, meals, insurance, accommodations, but most important, the year-round follow-up to our project by local staff to ensure the sustainability over time. Cox Hill HOSA

Cox Hill HOSA is a chapter of Squads Abroad, a non-profit supporting sustainable development goals to improve health and education outcomes in partner communities abroad. As a Global Health Squad, our school works in under resourced communities abroad to increase access to healthcare services, deliver health workshops alongside local students, and builds water and sanitation infrastructure projects that help keep students healthy and attending school. Our group also examines the social determinants of public health in the community through visitations of local health organizations and guest speakers to be able to compare and contrast our health systems at home. Crean Lutheran High School aims to inspire entrepreneurism and financial literacy abroad for youth in under-resourced communities. Our Squad helps create small businesses for partner schools to diversify funding and teach real-world business skills to their students. Crean Lutheran High School aims to provide access to clean water in rural under resourced communities through applying STEM skills. Our student volunteers work alongside local engineers to assess, design, and construct infrastructure projects that range from rainwater harvesters that supply drinking water for local schools to large scale community-wide water systems that pipe water directly into households.
