Passionate About:

I personally enjoy the challenge of learning about biology, the human body, effects of medicine and almost anything associated with human and health. I watched my parents go from healthy individuals to battling each other in and out of hospitals in one year. In that time, I sacrificed a lot to nurse them, give them time and attention, and help them understand their illness. My personal experience really inspired me to pursue a career in the medical field because I want to be able to help others who are going through the same situation. I want to improve patients\' health, provide families trust and support, and help patients understand their conditions. Besides an interest in the medical field, I enjoy baking cupcakes, DIY projects, and dance!

About Us

San Francisco State University is a chapter of Global Medical Brigades, an international movement of students and medical professionals working alongside local communities and staff to implement sustainable health systems. We work in remote, rural, and under resourced communities in Honduras, Panama, Nicaragua and Ghana who would otherwise have limited to no access to health care. Each community receives a brigade every 3 to 4 months where hundreds of patients are provided access to healthcare and volunteers deliver public health workshops. Electronic patient records are collected for future visitations and to monitor overall community health trends. nnIn conjunction with our Medical Program, Global Brigades also supports communities with economic development, sanitation and clean water projects, and uniquely implements these programs in a holistic model to meet a community’s health and economic goals. Our model systematically builds community ownership and collaboratively executes programs with the end goal of sustainably evolving to a relationship of impact monitoring.
