Passionate About:

This has been a dream of mine since I shadowed a doctor for the first time at the age of 14. She told me about the medical missions she went on, and it inspired me. At that young age, I saw that medicine had the limitless power of healing across socioeconomic and geographical borders thanks to the medical professionals that donate their own time, talent, and passion for healing to benefit such noble and necessary causes. I am very passionate about contributing to efforts such as these, where those with a passion for medical care and a genuine empathy and love for people can utilize and apply those skills to help those who desperately need the medical care. Medicine is obviously about making history and answering the unanswered questions, but medicine can have just as much of an impact in that it gives those who pursue it as a career the opportunity to reach out and heal those who have been cast aside and left un-cared for. Having a passion for a career in the field of medicine, along with the desire to help those in the most need are two characteristics I possess, and are skills that I am honored to be able to use to give back.

Volunteer Activity Message

Global Brigades offers 7-9 day Medical Brigades throughout the year in Honduras, Panama and Nicaragua. During a Medical Brigade, volunteers have the opportunity to take vitals and patient history in triage, shadow licensed doctors in medical consultations, and assist in a pharmacy under the direction of licensed pharmacists. Each of our partner communities receives a brigade approximately twice a year. Between brigades, our in-country team maintains relationships with the communities to provide follow-up and to conduct Community Health Worker (CHW) trainings to empower local leaders to sustain a consistent level of healthcare. Electronic patient records are collected for future visitations and to monitor overall community health trends.
