Passionate About:

I am an American Indian (Skidi-Pawnee) first-generation college student in my Junior year, majoring in Biological Sciences (Genetics, Cell and Developmental Biology) with minors in History and Spanish. I have multifaceted interests that include service, history, government, and a career in medicine. To which I express these interests through my work as a counselor for Arizona Boy’s State, the President of Barrett First Generation Students, the Service Chair of AED, the Academic Recruitment and Engagement Coordinator for the Changemaker Service Team, and I will be participating in the Mayo Clinic-Barrett Scholars program. Thus, I wanted to become a member of the ASU Global Medical Brigade because I want to make a difference in others’ lives. I grew up in less fortunate circumstances, but leaders in my community ensured that I would succeed. I want to embody that same empathy for humanity by serving and representing the United States and ASU as a global citizen.

About Us

Arizona State University is a chapter of Global Medical Brigades, an international movement of students and medical professionals working alongside local communities and staff to implement sustainable health systems. We work in remote, rural, and under resourced communities in Honduras, Panama, Nicaragua and Ghana who would otherwise have limited to no access to health care. Each community receives a brigade every 3 to 4 months where hundreds of patients are provided access to healthcare and volunteers deliver public health workshops. Electronic patient records are collected for future visitations and to monitor overall community health trends. nnIn conjunction with our Medical Program, Global Brigades also supports communities with economic development, sanitation and clean water projects, and uniquely implements these programs in a holistic model to meet a community’s health and economic goals. Our model systematically builds community ownership and collaboratively executes programs with the end goal of sustainably evolving to a relationship of impact monitoring.
