Mississippi State Veterinary Internship to Peru, June 2024

Your generous donation(s) will be put toward my transportation, food, lodging, orientations/support staff, and Airfare! I am full-time student, not working, and majoring in Wildlife. We will be learning about the daily life of exotic animals by following their routines, help clean their enclosures, prepare their food, and other activities for enrichment along with working with local outreach clinics and shelters. These animals include llamas, alpacas, and Andean bears! This will be a 2 week outreach program. This is a once in a life time opportunity to travel, bolster my resume, and gain hands on field experience. Any amount is greatly appreciated and even if you can't donate, spread the word and share this please! Thank you so much!

Volunteer Activity Description

Join the Mississippi State University chapter as they lead a Veterinary Outreach Internship to Peru this upcoming Summer! Interns will work in mobile clinics, where they will have the opportunity to take patient history, basic vital signs, shadow veterinarians, learn about the importance of different animals in locals lives and much more! If you’re interested in joining, contact us for more information!

VAW Global at Mississippi State University will be opening up mobile veterinary clinics for local communities as well as assisting at local animal care facilities during their time in Peru.

One of the most exciting and important parts of interning with VAW Global is bringing medication to the less fortunate. In 2023, VAW Global treated over 17,500 patients and we aspire to treat over 20,000 in 2024! One of the things that make our mobile clinics unique is that we not only triage and diagnose patients, but also provide them with the basic medications needed. Fundraising for medications is a huge part of creating a successful mobile clinic to help the local communities with effective care.
