Passionate About:

"Why nursing?" This is a question that I have very frequently received from other people since I started nursing school. I chose nursing because of a combination of reasons. Coming from a country where patient-centered care and hospital facilities are still very limited, being able to work in such a developed healthcare setting in the U.S. has always been my dream. Then, I started clinical and had my very first interactions with my patients. Until that moment, I\'ve finally realized how important it is for me, as a future nurse, to be there and provide sufficient care for the patient when they need me the most. Being hospitalized and possibly facing the thin line between life and death is a very scary situation. During those vulnerable moments, what the patient needs the most is a simple touch of human hand or a small gesture of kindness. It is truly a privilege, as nurses, to be able to be there for them in those moments. That is why I am interested and so passionate about the profession that I am going in right now. I want to be a nurse who pass by my patient’s bedside everyday acknowledging and sympathizing the pain they go through and the discomfort of being away from home they experience. I want to be someone who is knowledgable enough to provide sufficient care for my patients as well as that very needed “human kindness” to them in such difficult times in their lives.

VAW at Chicago Medical Outreach trip to Albania, December 2015/January 2016

Tiffany's Message

Dear Friends and Family,

As a future nurse, I feel very strongly about helping people and ensuring that everyone can receive the efficient nursing care they deserve. With that said, my dream is being able to participate in the Chicago chapter of the Medical Outreach trip to Albania this upcoming winter to serve! I will have the chance to volunteer to "intake patients, conduct public health surveys, take vitals and teach education classes", etc. However, as a student, I am still unable to cover the cost of the volunteer trip on my own. That is why I am hoping to receive as much help as possible from any generous friends and family members! It would mean SO MUCH to me being able to get enough funding to make this volunteer trip to Albania a reality!

Thank you so much!

Best,
Tiffany
