Passionate About:

Hi there!

My name is Stephanie Jaffe, I am a third year Biomedical Sciences Major at the University of South Florida. For the summer of 2017, I was extended the invitation to travel to Peru to volunteer for an amazing organization called Volunteers Around The World (VAW)! Volunteers Around The World is an Non-Governmental Organization dedicated to bringing students to some of the most poverty stricken communities of the world, to provide medical treatment, medication, nutritional security, clean water and health education.

This internship is designed to bring students as close to working physicians as possible before going to medical school. While abroad, I will have the opportunity to: shadow a doctor as they asses patients, measure vital statistics (such as taking blood sugar levels, height and weight measurements, and temperature readings), get experience with dealing in patient history, managing a pharmacy, and an education day where Teams will travel to a local school and teach children the importance of hygiene, dental health, hand washing, nutrition or any other subjects prevalent.

(If you would like to find out more about Volunteers Around The World : http://www.volunteersaroundtheworld.org/projects/projects/medical-outreach/ )

The Program itself will cost around $3,500. Contributing to the greater good of man, is a cause that more people should take part in, and I would relish the opportunity to aid in these efforts to help those that are not as fortunate as I.

Thank you for your support, and consideration. Any donation would help me tremendously! If you find that you can not donate, please share this link for others to see!

Sincerely,

Stephanie Jaffe

If you’re interested in joining, contact us for more information! VAW Global at Vanderbilt University will be opening up mobile medical clinics for local communities during their time in Peru. One of the most exciting and important parts of interning with VAW Global is bringing medication to the less fortunate. In 2023, VAW Global treated over 17,500 patients and we aspire to treat over 20,000 in 2024! One of the things that makes our mobile clinics unique is that we not only triage and diagnose patients but also provide them with the basic medications needed.
