Hello! Thank you for taking the time to visit my empowered.org page!

Sooooo let me introduce myself :) I am from the bay area and I am a very family-oriented person. It's no surprise since I come from a large Filipino family with lots of aunts, uncles, cousins, and a few extended relatives. During my free time, I love to watch movies on the daily and if you really knew me, my all time favorite show is ABC's Once Upon a Time...I ♥♥♥ Regina! I also love food! Love love love food! On my list to do this summer, I plan to make as many 'Sorted' dishes as possible and who can forget about books! Books are a must and lots of them! My favs include Dracula by Bram Stoker, Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, and who can forget Harry Potter?! But to further my mind, I do go to school :)

I started my educational journey at Skyline College, San Bruno and transferred to UC Davis in the fall of 2012. During my time at Skyline, I completed my general education courses as well as my prerequisites in the sciences, taking courses in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Calculus. I was fortunate to particulate in an annual program called 'Expanding Your Horizons' where the aim is to spark an interest in the maths and sciences for young women since these fields lack women professionals. Towards the end of my time there, I participated in a scientific research project where my partner and I won an National Award in Biology at the national SACNAS conference.

As of now, I am a recent graduate of UC Davis with a degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Cellular Biology. During my time at UC Davis, I was lucky enough to intern at the UC Davis Medical Center. First, as a Child-Life intern in the Pediatric Ward tending to children from infants to preteens, undergoing several illinesses from breaking an arm to more complicated conditions such as cystic fibrosis. Second, in the OB/GYN clinic I helped nurses tend to women with high-risk pregnancies by taking vitals, patient history, and was fortunate enough to oversee ultrasounds.

Thank you for taking the time to read this! I truly wanted you to see what I'm all about, where I come from, and where I hope to go. All these accomplishments are great but what was so rewarding about them, for me at least, was helping others. Giving back to the community and helping those in need has not only shaped me into who I am today, but will forever be a part of me. My next step in my journey is get into medical school to become a doctor. I hope that with this trip, it will give me the inspiration to fulfill this dream of mine.
