Ever since I was a child, I had a soft spot for helping people. It didn't matter how big or little the situation, I always wanted to help in any way that I could. I love providing those in need with food, clothes, and shelter if possible. During the summer of 2016, I traveled to Argentina with a group of scholars like myself, and while immersing myself in the Argentine culture and living with a host family for two weeks, I painted and helped rebuild an elementary school. I learned the native language, Castellano, and also learned how to saddle and ride horses. An experience such as this one truly inspired me to visit more foreign places.
This summer, I will be going to the Dominican Republic to participate in a missions program to help restore the sick back to health. I believe it will be extremely eye opening, and it will be a great way to practice my Spanish as well as help out a community that can't afford to seek medical attention. My goal for this trip is to reach $ 3,000 to cover medical supplies, food, host family, flight, and spending money.
I aspire to be a criminal defense lawyer in the near future and hope to aid those that have been wrongfully convicted.
