North Carolina A&T State University Medical Internship to Guatemala, January 2025

Echo's Message

Echo Horne is a Sophomore Honors student at North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University, studying Kinesiology with a concentration in Exercise Science. She is planning to pursue a career in the healthcare field as a physician. With her passion for health equity alongside the desire to bridge the gap between minorities in medicine, she hopes to equip underserved communities with necessary resources to improve their quality of life. Help Echo exemplify her commitment to service and medicine as she travels to Guatemala in 2025.

Volunteer Activity Description

Join the North Carolina A&T State University chapter as they lead a Medical Outreach Internship to Guatemala this upcoming Winter! interns will work in mobile medical clinics, where they will have the opportunity to intake patients, conduct public health surveys, take vitals, shadow local physicians, work in the pharmacy, teach education classes, and much more! If you’re interested in joining, contact us for more information!

VAW Global at North Carolina A&T State University will be opening up mobile medical clinics for local communities during their time in Guatemala.

One of the most exciting and important parts of interning with VAW Global is bringing medication to the less fortunate. In 2023, VAW Global treated over 17,500 patients and we aspire to treat over 20,000 in 2024! One of the things that make our mobile clinics unique is that we not only triage and diagnose patients but also provide them with the basic medications needed. Fundraising for medications is a huge part of creating a successful mobile clinic to help the local communities with effective care.
