Passionate About:

My most rewarding experience at Temple University was joining Global Brigades, a humanitarian organization that strives to empower both the volunteers and under-resourced communities located throughout Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, and Ghana to ameliorate global health and economic disparities in hopes of improving the equality of life. During my past trip to Honduras, my goal was to make an impact on the Honduran community, however towards the end of the trip I realized that the community members themselves have impacted me. Returning to the states, I only wanted to give more of myself to help others and become selfless. Therefore, because of this experience I gained the drive, passion, and confidence to take on a leadership position as Treasurer and Co-Fundraising Chair so that I may be able to make more of a positive difference in this world. I am a better person because of my experience within Temple University’s Global Brigades. Please help me continue my mission to empower the community and increase equality in Nicaragua this summer!

About Us

Temple University is a chapter of Global Water Brigades, an international movement of university students working alongside local communities and technicians to implement clean water systems in the developing world. Water systems are designed, planned, and budgeted with partner communities and local leaders are identified by the community to serve as the community’s Water Council, which collects monthly water fees from households to operate and maintain the constructed water system. It then takes several months of construction by volunteers, staff and community members to complete and can include several large scale components, such as dams and storage tanks in order to pipe clean water to individual homes. nnIn conjunction with our Water Program, Global Brigades also supports communities with healthcare, economic development and sanitation projects, and uniquely implements these programs in a holistic model to meet a community’s health and economic goals. Our model systematically builds community ownership and collaboratively executes programs with the end goal of sustainably evolving to a relationship of impact monitoring.
