Mauricio's Message

Just to provide you with a brief background on Honduras, it is currently the 2nd poorest country in the Western hemisphere with persistent poverty and inequality; yet, it still hosts hundreds of people searching for ways to start a business. The average person currently earn less than $2 a day, have less than a 5th grade education, and, without our assistance, are limited to no access to loans. The ultimate objective is to provide these low income villagers in Honduras with opportunities to obtain low interest loans to invest in their farms or alternative income generating opportunities.

During this time away, I will be interacting with Honduran locals in real micro-lending transactions through community banks and an international microfinance institution, where I will be fully trained to effectively serve in the rural communities. I will engage in the daily lives of the local families within these communities and personally learn about their lives, their struggles, their hopes, and, most importantly, their dire needs. I will also be visiting a Honduran orphanage where I will have the humbling privilege of meeting and interacting with the Honduran children and giving them a gift that is very dear and close to my heart, the gift of hope.

To make this trip a success, I am asking for financial support to help fund this trip, as well as your sincere thoughts and prayers as I embark on this journey to immerse myself in an life-changing week of service. During this trip, I hope to fully utilize this opportunity to serve those less fortunate who are in need in Honduras, and make an impactful change in their lives for the better. I am immensely humbled and grateful to be a part of such an amazing service organization that takes the initiative to change the world one country at a time.

Any donation and any prayer you can support me with will make me one step closer to my goal.

Volunteer Activity Description

Fundraise with your Global Business Brigades chapter on campus to meet the minimum $1,500 USD annual chapter contribution.

The annual chapter contribution directly supports the Community Investment Fund, which enables year-round economic development in partner communities carried out by our local teams. The Community Investment Fund is a critical component to GB’s Sustainable Transition Plan. Once a partner community has met specific health and economic development goals and brigades are no longer necessary, GB transitions projects fully to the community and offers follow-up with our local staff.

The more you fundraise, the more impact we make together!

BUSINESS Suggested donation amount: $25
On average, $25 provides a micro-loan to increase one family’s income potential.
