Tibetan Village Project Water Purification Initiative at Stanford

  • About
Tibetan Village Project is an non profit, non-political organization run solely by Tibetans. Tamdin Wangdu founded TVP in 2001.

TVP believes in promoting sustainable development, medical development and entrepreneurship while preserving the rich cultural heritage of Tibet.

The organization was founded in 2001 when Tamdin\'s father died after attempting, and failing, to make it to a health care clinic.

Tamdin\'s initial project of bringing health care to rural Tibet has grown into a multifaceted organization helping many villages in Tibet.

Water Purification Projet in Tibet

Fundraising Campaign Description
We have formed a team at Stanford that is designing a simple, cost effective and easy to maintain water purification system for a single family home in rural Tibet.

Our design will be submitted to Tibetan Village Project, judged by a panel of independent engineers vs. 5 other schools and then merged with the other ideas to develop the best system possible. We will travel to Tibet over the summer of 2013 to install the final design.

TVP doesn\'t give the purifiers away. Local families invest in the filter to create a sense of ownership over the project.

Tibetan Village Project hopes to create a business around the final design. The business will be run by, and for, Tibetans!
