Tibetan Village Project Cookstove Initiative

  • About
Tibetan Village Project is an non profit, non-political organization run solely by Tibetans. Tamdin Wangdu founded TVP in 2001.

TVP believes in promoting sustainable development, medical development and entrepreneurship while preserving the rich cultural heritage of Tibet.

The organization was founded in 2001 when Tamdin's father died after trying, and failing, to make it to a health care clinic.

Tamdin's initial project of bringing health care to rural Tibet has grown into a multifaceted organization helping many villages in Tibet.

Building a better cookstove for rural Tibet

Fundraising Campaign Description
I\'m working with Tibetan Village Project to research, design and implement a more efficient cookstove for Tibetan families.

Many families cook over a stove or open fire that emits smoke straight into their house. The stove we will build will be designed to eliminate this smoke and improve the families health, use less fuel (wood and yak dung) and contribute less co2 to the atmosphere, and ideally be made of locally sourced materials.

The larger vision for this project is to build a business around the sale of the cookstove that is run for and by Tibetans.
