Leominster, MAPassionate About:
I have been interested in Global Brigades since I came to college. The mission of Global Brigades coincides directly with what I want to do for the rest of my life.
I believe that Global Brigades aim to bring high standard healthcare services and access to health education to communities that lack it. Nations like Honduras, Panama, Nicaragua, and Ghana do not have the access to healthcare services that people do in countries like the USA. However, the people in those countries need proper healthcare just as much as we do, if not more. Healthcare services go beyond sending a few vaccinations a year. The healthcare that these people need is personal. I want to volunteer so I can go to this community, connect with these individuals, and help them on a one-to-one level. One day, I hope to get my Master's in public health so that I will be able to return to Latin America and work once again with communities similar to the one I will visit with the Global Medical Brigades. I hope to learn more about these communities, and learn about their needs so that I can get the funding, resources, and professional individuals to give it to them.
This mission is wonderful in also bringing people from different communities together. I think that Global Brigades should spread to other countries all over the world, so that volunteers can reach out to as many people as possible.
