Awareness and Prevention Through Art is a grass roots organization started by artists, activists and educators to address the HIV and AIDS epidemic in Mozambique. The mission of the project is to use the arts and arts education for the development of HIV and AIDS awareness within Mozambican youth, local communities and the international community. APTA believes if given the opportunity individuals can, and will, make informed and healthy choices about their lifestyles regarding to HIV and AIDS. With accurate information about HIV and AIDS alongside promotion of the arts and cultural exchange, we aim to provide opportunities and knowledge for a brighter future.

APTA holds art exhibitions both locally and internationally displaying artwork created by both students and instructors. Proceeds from the exhibitions are returned back into the project to fund future HIV and AIDS awareness and prevention endeavors.
