Hi all!

I will be volunteering with Conscious Impact for 10 days (Jan 24-Feb 2) in Takure, Nepal with my good friend Phillip Ngo. Conscious Impact was founded after the April 2015 earthquakes devastated 99% of the homes in the small village of Takure which was located close to the epicenter. (continue scrolling down)

In Takure specifically, CI works to sustain development in rebuilding, agriculture, and education by employing locals and recruiting volunteers. Read more technicalities about their alternative solutions here: https://www.consciousimpact.org/#intro. Phillip and I will aid in rebuilding by producing Compressed Stabilized Earth Blocks (CSEBs).

Phillip and I chose to volunteer with CI in Nepal for multiple reasons, but primarily because we are looking to give back and invest in local communities during our backpacking voyage through Asia. To put some purpose in our trip. Aaaand because one of my greatest mentors throughout undergrad, Beth Huggins, is one of the primary staff members at CI.
