Global Medical Brigade-Nicaragua May 2013

This upcoming May, I will have the unique opportunity to accompany a group of dedicated students and medical professionals on a trip to Nicaragua to conduct a medical brigade with the Chapman University chapter of Global Medical Brigades. Our goal is to provide much-needed medical care to people who do not have regular access to medical services. Our brigade will work with a group of doctors from Nicaragua to ensure that we have the greatest amount of positive impact in the communities where we will be serving. We will spend 9 days traveling in Nicaragua, setting up temporary clinics where people can come and receive medical treatment free of charge. While there, I will be taking vital signs, distributing medicine, and educating the people of Nicaragua about healthcare issues and how to prevent common illnesses.
