I am excited for this opportunity to learn practical sustainable agriculture techniques as well as to gain valuable cultural perspective. Student leaders in Teustepe, Nicaragua are leading the way in cultivating land in a way that is efficient and conscious of resources while also effectively providing for the local community. I am interested to learn from these trailblazing souls and in turn utilize and spread these principles to permeate environments from local to global in adopting practices of growing food that is sustainable and equally beneficial to the land and the people whom inhabit it. I am convinced that there is a better way to feed the world than the majority of current practices assume and I am determine to learn and apply this in as many places as possible in my lifetime. I truly believe that this is the first step in doing so.
