My name is Amanda Flores and I am a junior at Rutgers University. I was selected from a wide array of students at Rutgers University to go on the Rutgers University Medical/Dental/Public Health Brigade to Nicaragua this January. I am super excited and blessed to be given this life changing opportunity and cannot wait to embark on this fantastic journey. As most of my family members and friends know, I am currently going to school to become a Doctor, specifically a cardio thoracic surgeon (fingers crossed). The passion to become a doctor was something I believe I was born with and it's what motivates me to try my very best to make my dream come true. My main goal after becoming a doctor is to give back to low/middle-income countries where medical care is very poor. This medical brigade will give me the opportunity to take a peek into my future.
