This year I am honored to serve as president of Philadelphia University's Global Medical Brigades and lead our medical relief trip to Nicaragua for 9 days. In Nicaragua, we will work hand in hand with in-country health care professionals to set up a free medical clinic for communities that would not otherwise have access to proper health care. Medicine and medical relief work are passions that I plan on pursuing far into my future. For a pre-med student at Philadelphia University, this trip provides an amazing opportunity to gain first hand experience in the medical field as well as change the lives of all those involved. The goal of Global Medical Brigades is to not only provide a free medical clinic to those in need, but also to work with in-country medical providers and local governments to establish a sustainable health care system that will continually improve the quality of living for the communities in Nicaragua.
