Volunteer Activity Description

Start Date: May 28, 2015 7:00 AM
End Date: Jul 10, 2015 11:30 PM

Overview: Each summer, Al-Akhawayn University offers a series of day camps for underprivileged young people in the surrounding communities, featuring music and arts activities as well as sports. Each camp runs for two weeks and participants range in age from 6 to 10 years old. Many of the children participating in the camps come from under-served corners of the region.

Needs: The university’s summer camp programs are seeking unofficial ambassadors to assist in organizing and running a soccer camp and a two-week camp in a local community. In coordination with the athletics director, interns will work with children and staff to coordinate games, sports and exercise activities.

In 2013 and 2014, unofficial ambassadors oversaw soccer camps and day camps for children at the university and organized a two-week summer camp for children at a local shepherding village.

Preferred Qualifications: Unofficial ambassadors with some experience working with children are preferred and applicants should be in good physical condition. Knowledge of basic French or Arabic is preferred for these placements.

Early Application Program fee: $3,690 (Before Dec. 20, 2014)

Regular Program Fee: $3,875 (After Dec. 20, 2014)

For further details on the placement opportunity, please do not hesitate to contact us. Thank you for your interest and we look forward to your support.
