Hallo friends-

This February I will be embarking on a fantastic trip to Panama with a number of other Dalhousie students. We will be working alongside community members on a Global Public Health Brigade to improve infrastructure. Before we arrive, Global Brigades ground staff will have worked alongside the community to design a plan that will best suit the community in terms of sustainability and growth. Our brigade will then step in to help implement these plans. We will be providing public health education such as basic education on sanitation and hygiene as well as helping to build latrines and ecostoves. Our sustainable, grassroots approach ensures the communities will benefit long after we're gone. I am both nervous and excited to contribute to global health in some small way!

In the meantime, I am co-ordinating fundraising events to help fund the trip and the sanitation packs we are planning to provide the community which will include items such as shampoo, soap, toothbrushes. It's hard work with a full courseload but well worth it. Please feel free to support me by donating! (:
