What Give A Day Global Volunteers can do:
Work alongside community members in tending to their community garden producing environmentally sustainable food and teaching students life skills
Help teach and tutor in English
Assist with extra-curricular activities
Participate in health and wellness activities

A Snapshot of Rwanda:
In 1994, Rwanda suffered a devastating genocide leading to many social hardships. One of the leading issues lingering throughout the country is a high number of orphaned children and vulnerable youth. Despite this catastrophe, the country defies the odds as it rebuilds itself into a thriving and stable country. ASYV preserves the value of Rwandan culture through our Rwandan staff and educators and by creating an inextricable link to our local community.

About ASYV:
The Agahozo-Shalom Youth Village (ASYV) is a residential community that is home to youth who were orphaned during and after the genocide in 1994. The Village is designed to help the youth realize their maximum potential by providing them with a safe and secure living environment, health care, education and necessary life skills. Education and service are used to model and create socially responsible citizens in Rwanda and around the world. It is a place of hope, where “tears are dried” (signified by the word “Agahozo”) and where the aim is to live in peace (from Hebrew, “shalom”). Their graduates are encouraged to be committed to making their community, their country, and their world a better place.
