Fundraising Campaign Message

Give A Day Global Volunteers Can Do
Volunteers will either be able to participate in the “Reading for Life” program in which they bring books for the library and read to kids to promote literacy, and/or “Our Beautiful World” program in which they give a presentation about where they are from to help educate children about geography and culture.

A Snapshot of Playas del Coco
As recently as twenty years ago, Playas del Coco was a sleepy little town that depended on local artisanal fishing for its subsistence. Today, it’s the fastest growing tourism hub in all of the Gulf of Papagayo. While many locals still depend on fishing for a living, increasingly, the population of 3500 is involved in the tourist industry. Despite this industry boom, there are still many rural communities with great development needs.

About Earth Equilibrium at Obandito School
Earth Equilibrium is a nonprofit organization in Costa Rica that works with local schools to rebuild damaged infrastructure, provide needed school supplies, and implement an environmental education program. Obandito School is one of Earth Equilibrium’s projects. The school has 63 students in grades one through six. Like the majority of the schools in the area, Obandito has myriad infrastructure, material, and supply needs, and the majority of its students come from impoverished households.

Your Contribution
Earth Equilibrium is raising funds for a library project at Obandito School. The school has few books, so your suggested donation will help to build the bookshelfs and stock it with children’s books to promote literacy and a love of reading.
