INDIAN RIVER CHARTER SCHOOL

Indian River Charter School is a chapter of Squads Abroad, a non-profit supporting sustainable development goals to improve health and education outcomes in partner communities abroad. As a Global Education Squad, our group works in under resourced schools abroad to supplement local curriculum, provide one-on-one tutoring, and make physical improvements to the school’s infrastructure that improve learning outcomes. International Community School

About The International Community School is traveling to Costa Rica from May 20-26, 2018. The group is led by Spanish teachers Nadia Miranda and Cameron Brandy. The group will stay at our private and safe home-base accommodations Cartago where our local professional staff provide all transportation, food, lodging, and activities. The group will be matched with a local school where they will spend each weekday morning completing valuable small construction projects and staff support. Each afternoon the group will embark on fun and engaging guided cultural and adventure activities around Cartago. On the weekend the group will take an overnight excursion to to the most well-known cloud forest in the world for its biodiversity, conservation efforts, and scientific research. Enjoy a guided nature walk through the park to experience this unique ecosystem and explore the rainforest canopy further with an exhilarating Skytrek adventure, a extensive system of suspension bridges and zip lines through the canopy. IVROP Club Global Health Squads

IVROP Club aims to improve health care access and sanitation infrastructure for children in under resourced communities abroad. Our Squad travels abroad to conduct mobile health clinics for children that include primary health care and vision and dental screenings. We also learn about and address some of the systemic issues behind preventable diseases in the community by implementing health workshops and building handwashing stations alongside local students. Each of our student volunteers has a donation goal to help cover logistical expenses while abroad such as transport, local staff, meals, insurance, accommodations, but most important, the year-round follow-up to our project by local staff to ensure the sustainability over time. We need your help to reach our goals! Consider donating or joining our next Squad! John Burroughs School- Global STEM Squad

John Burroughs School aims to provide access to clean water in rural under resourced communities through applying STEM skills. Global STEM TeleSquads work alongside our local teams in a live STEM case study to design and build a water storage tank in the rural communities, improving access to clean potable water and improving sanitation.

Johnson High School Medical Outreach

Johnson High School Medical Outreach is a chapter of Squads Abroad, a non-profit supporting sustainable development goals to improve health and education outcomes in partner communities abroad. As a Global Health Squad, our school works in under resourced communities abroad to increase access to healthcare services, deliver health workshops alongside local students, and builds water and sanitation infrastructure projects that help keep students healthy and attending school. Our group also examines the social determinants of public health in the community through visitations of local health organizations and guest speakers to be able to compare and contrast our health systems at home. Jupiter HS is a chapter of Squads Abroad, a non-profit supporting sustainable development goals to improve health and education outcomes in partner communities abroad. Global Health Squads mobilize students to help improve health care access and sanitation infrastructure for children in under-resourced communities abroad. Projects include: mobile health clinics, building handwashing stations at schools and providing healthcare workshops for children. Global Health Squads is a program of Global Brigades, a highly recognized international development organization that uniquely implements a Holistic Model that targets specific UN Sustainable Development goals within partner communities. Our model systematically builds community ownership and collaboratively executes programs with the end goal of sustainably transitioning to a relationship of impact monitoring.
