UIUC Law May 2012 Panama

Nick 's Message

Hey friends and family,

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page! I am excited to travel to Panama in May/June 2012 through the UIUC branch of Global Law Brigades. Global Law Brigades is a not for profit organization that provides a week long service trip for volunteers in rural Panama. Our project this year is dedicated to educating and helping Panamanian farmers draft legal documents to protect their land entitlement rights.

Please help me reach my fundraising goal by donating online! Any amount is greatly appreciated! In order to donate to my personal fund, click the yellow 'Donate' button to the right and select 'Nick Millman' from the drop down list. All donations go to the UIUC Global Law Brigades branch, which funds our program and in turn benefits the Panamanian community.

While at the University of Illinois, I am studying Global Studies and minoring in Spanish. This is an incredible opportunity to practice my language of study with native speakers and expand my knowledge of the world.

Volunteer Activity Description

Law Brigades at UIUC is a chapter of Global Brigades, the world's largest student-led global health and sustainable development organization. The UIUC chapter systematically works with more than 300 other university groups around the world to deliver and implement one of nine skill-based programs that benefit more than 130,000 Honduran and Panamanian community members annually. A one week Law Brigade provides volunteers the opportunity to get hands on legal experience working on cases with meaningful impact under licensed international lawyers. Examples of past projects include: business licensing, microenterprise legal support, and environmental degradation prevention.
