Tulane University Legal Empowerment Brigades

Tulane University is a chapter of Global Legal Empowerment Brigades, an international movement of students and attorneys providing legal education and financial resources for vulnerable families to resolve legal challenges. We focus our work with women in remote, rural, and under resourced communities who would otherwise have limited to no access to legal resources. Volunteers facilitate legal clinics with lawyers to provide pro-bono consulting and the financial resources for community members to help resolve cases. nnIn conjunction with our Legal Empowerment Program, Global Brigades also supports communities with healthcare, economic development, clean water and sanitation projects, and uniquely implements these programs in a holistic model to meet a community’s health and economic goals. Our model systematically builds community ownership and collaboratively executes programs with the end goal of sustainably evolving to a relationship of impact monitoring. University of Alabama Nursing Kambia Programs

Global Brigades is a US 501c3 nonprofit recognized for its international health and sustainable development work abroad. Through an evidence-based model, we work alongside local staff and community members to build projects that tangibly improve lives in Honduras, Panama, Ghana and Greece. Kambia is transforming global education by enhancing university and college curriculums. Our programs present students with a community challenge and use experts on the ground to analyze and problem solve over the course of a semester whether that is virtual or in-person. Our on the ground staff trains and empowers local community leaders in the formation of (depending on the program Medical Class, CHEs. Public Health, Basic Sanitation Committee, etc) The Basic Sanitation Committee is responsible for carrying out in-home assessments and monitoring the status of the projects. In conjunction with our Public Health Program, Global Brigades also supports communities with healthcare, economic development and clean water projects, and uniquely implements these programs in a holistic model to meet a community’s health and economic goals. University of Arkansas Public Health Brigades

University of Arkansas is a chapter of Global Public Health Brigades, an international movement of university students working to improve health conditions in the developing world. Through an evidence-based model, we work alongside local community members to build projects that tangibly improve lives in Honduras, Nicaragua and Ghana. Volunteers work with local masons and families to build eco-stoves, latrines, concrete floors, showers, and/or water storage units. To ensure long-term sustainability and maintenance, the Public Health program team trains and empowers local community leaders in the formation of a Basic Sanitation Committee. The Basic Sanitation Committee is responsible for carrying out in-home assessments and monitoring the status of the projects.
