Cassandra's Message

Hi Friends,

Thank you so much for visiting my page!! Any donations are greatly appreciated and help bring me one step closer to bringing health care and medical supplies to an underprivileged community in Honduras. Although the goal reads 750 I am additionally raising 350 for medical supplies which I am well on my way to completing:)

Together with Medical and Dental brigades I am pursuing the dream of aiding individual patients in need of medical treatment who don't have the resources readily available to them. I'm already close to my goal of 350 for medical supplies alone which are not included on this page. Unfortunately being a full time student I am only able to work part time during the year so I can't reach this goal on my own. Anything and everything will be much appreciated!

The only way to lead a life of happiness I believe is to surround ourselves with the goodness of charity. It gives a sense of purpose to life by working towards better lives for others.

Volunteer Activity Description

Volunteers on the Medical and Dental Brigades will be working closely together to provide quality health initiatives to a community that otherwise has limited access to health care. Volunteers will spend 3 days in a community in order to optimize the amount of time patients are able to spend with the physicians and dentists. Each patient will receive a physician consultation, teeth cleaning and a fluoride treatment as well as have access to pap smears, prostate exams and restorative dental care as necessary. Volunteers will have the opportunity to take patient vitals, obtain patient history and current symptoms, shadow and assist licensed physicians and dentists, participate in preventative education, and fill prescriptions under a licensed pharmacist. Volunteers will become familiar with the prevalent health issues in their community and learn about how to prevent and treat those illnesses. These brigades provide each volunteer with the opportunity to make a tangible impact on a specific community while gaining real life experience in the field of international medicine and dentistry.
