Dear Family and Friends,

On May 18th through the 28th next year I will have the unique opportunity of traveling to Ghana, Africa with a group of students and medical professionals with the University of Missouri’s Global Medical Brigades chapter. Global Medical Brigades encourages university students to have an educational and hands-on experience to provide medical care in third world countries where it is so desperately needed. We will spend a week traveling to underserved, rural areas around the country of Ghana, setting up temporary clinics where people can come and receive medical treatment free of charge. Global Medical Brigades is the largest heath sustainable organization in the world that sends students to aid countries in need. This is our third year as a chapter at MU, and we are very excited to see how much we can continue to accomplish with our enthusiasm and willingness to help combined with your support.

I want you to understand why I feel Ghana needs our help. In Ghana, the average family does not have a doctor within a 20 mile radius, lives on a family income of less than a dollar a day, and has less than 3 gallons of water for daily consumption. The average level of education is the third grade and twenty percent of patients have never seen a doctor outside of Global Medical Brigades. So, in my eyes, I think it is very appropriate to represent the University of Missouri and pay it forward to the people of Ghana!

In order for this trip to be a success, I need your support. I am looking for sponsors to support my trip and mission to help others. The total trip cost is $880 plus airfare, and I must fundraise what I can to support my trip.
