Central Michigan U Public Health Brigade March 2015 HON

Angela's Message

Over spring break, I am very excited to be traveling to Honduras with other CMU students through an organization called Global Brigades. Global Brigades is the world’s largest student-led health and sustainable development organization that improves the quality of life in under-resourced communities. I will be going on a Public Health Brigade. With community members and volunteers, we will work to improve the overall infrastructure within Honduran homes through the construction of five projects: eco-stoves, latrines, water storage units, showers, and concrete floors.
Help me as I aim to help others through any size donation on this, my personal fundraising page. My approximate donation goal is $1530, once our flights have been booked I will have a more concrete goal. Remember, all donations are tax-deductible! Volunteer Activity Description

Global Brigades offers 7-10 day Public Health Brigades throughout the year in Honduras, Panama, Nicaragua and Ghana. On Public Health Brigades, volunteers develop sustainable health solutions and establish a standard of health quality by emphasizing prevention and education. The Public Health Program achieves this goal by implementing in-home infrastructure projects, providing health education, and engaging community members. Each Public Health Brigade will work with individual families, local schools, and community leaders with a focus on holistic and preventative health measures on both an individual and community-wide scale.
