Passionate About:

My name is Allison Dunne and I am a junior at the University of Toledo majoring in Biology with a minor in Chemistry and a concentration in Pre-Medicine. I plan to go to medical school after receiving my Bachelor's degree with the hope of going into either emergency medicine or surgery. Joining Global Medical Brigades was hands-down one of the best decisions I have ever made. It has taught me wonders about the world we live in while also providing me the humbling experience of assisting others in need. I brigade because I love being able to provide love, help, and support to those who live in underserved communities. Through my mission trips, I am able to better those in developing nations while also growing as a person and expanding my horizons.

Volunteer Activity Message

Global Brigades offers 7-9 day Medical Brigades throughout the year in Honduras, Panama and Nicaragua. During a Medical Brigade, volunteers have the opportunity to take vitals and patient history in triage, shadow licensed doctors in medical consultations, and assist in a pharmacy under the direction of licensed pharmacists. Each of our partner communities receives a brigade approximately twice a year. Between brigades, our in-country team maintains relationships with the communities to provide follow-up and to conduct Community Health Worker (CHW) trainings to empower local leaders to sustain a consistent level of healthcare. Electronic patient records are collected for future visitations and to monitor overall community health trends.
