The three Global Brigades Institutes The Institute for Global Health, The Institute for Sustainable Development and the Institute for Language and Culture function as the educational arms of the organization. Their purpose is to: (1) improve the preparation of volunteers to make a difference while working abroad, (2) develop our members' profesional experience to make them competitive applicants in the fields of International Development and Global Health, and (3) improve access to higher education in the countries Global Brigades supports.

Medical Brigades @ Philadelphia Medical Students Global Brigades USA

Philadelphia Osteopathic Medical Students is a non-university affiliated chapter of Global Medical Brigades, an international movement of students and medical professionals working alongside local communities and staff to implement sustainable health systems. We work in remote, rural, and under resourced communities in Honduras, Panama, Nicaragua and Ghana who would otherwise have limited to no access to health care. Each community receives a brigade every 3 to 4 months where hundreds of patients are provided access to healthcare and volunteers deliver public health workshops. Electronic patient records are collected for future visitations and to monitor overall community health trends. nnIn conjunction with our Medical Program, Global Brigades also supports communities with economic development, sanitation and clean water projects, and uniquely implements these programs in a holistic model to meet a community’s health and economic goals. Engineering Chapter at Boston University Global Brigades USA

Boston University is a chapter of Global Engineering Brigades, an international movement of university students working alongside local communities and technicians to implement clean water systems in the developing world. Water systems are designed, planned, and budgeted with partner communities and local leaders are identified by the community to serve as the community’s Water Council, which collects monthly water fees from households to operate and maintain the constructed water system. It then takes several months of construction by volunteers, staff and community members to complete and can include several large scale components, such as dams and storage tanks in order to pipe clean water to individual homes. Engineering volunteers specifically work on the design and planning stages of the water projects to ensure that they can later be successfully constructed. nnIn conjunction with our Water & Engineering Programs, Global Brigades also supports communities with healthcare, economic development and sanitation projects, and uniquely implements these programs in a holistic model to meet a community’s health and economic goals. Architecture Brigades at Mount Allison is a chapter of Global Brigades, the world's largest student-led global health and sustainable development organization. The chapter, which is comprised of students of Mount Allison , systematically works with more than 300 other university groups around the world to deliver and implement one of nine skill-based programs that benefit more than 130,000 Honduran and Panamanian community members annually. Architecture Brigades, a program within Global Brigades, designs and constructs socially responsible and sustainable architecture solutions in developing nations. A think tank design approach that utilizes extensive community dialogue and independent research to create efficient, appropriate, and elegant structures to be embraced and utilized by those for whom they were built.

Human Rights Chapter at the University Of Edinburgh Global Brigades United Kingdom

University of Edinburgh is a chapter of Global Human Rights Brigades, an international movement of students and attorneys providing legal education and financial resources for vulnerable families to resolve legal challenges. We focus our work with women in remote, rural, and under resourced communities who would otherwise have limited to no access to legal resources. Volunteers facilitate legal clinics with lawyers to provide pro-bono consulting and the financial resources for community members to help resolve cases. nnIn conjunction with our Human Rights Program, Global Brigades also supports communities with healthcare, economic development, clean water and sanitation projects, and uniquely implements these programs in a holistic model to meet a community’s health and economic goals.
