Water Brigades at Brandeis University Global Brigades USA

Brandeis University is a chapter of Global Water Brigades, an international movement of university students working alongside local communities and technicians to implement clean water systems in the developing world. Water systems are designed, planned, and budgeted with partner communities and local leaders are identified by the community to serve as the community’s Water Council, which collects monthly water fees from households to operate and maintain the constructed water system. It then takes several months of construction by volunteers, staff and community members to complete and can include several large scale components, such as dams and storage tanks in order to pipe clean water to individual homes. nnIn conjunction with our Water Program, Global Brigades also supports communities with healthcare, economic development and sanitation projects, and uniquely implements these programs in a holistic model to meet a community’s health and economic goals. University of Windsor Dental Brigades Chapter Global Brigades in Canada

University of Windsor is a chapter of Global Dental Brigades, an international movement of students and medical professionals working alongside local communities and staff to implement sustainable health systems. We work in remote, rural, and under resourced communities in Honduras, Panama, Nicaragua and Ghana who would otherwise have limited to no access to health care. Each community receives a brigade every 3 to 4 months where hundreds of patients are provided access to dental & medical care and volunteers deliver public health workshops. Electronic patient records are collected for future visitations and to monitor overall community health trends. In conjunction with our Medical & Dental Programs, Global Brigades also supports communities with economic development, sanitation and clean water projects, and uniquely implements these programs in a holistic model to meet a community’s health and economic goals. Legal Empowerment Brigades at Kings College London Global Brigades United Kingdom

Kings College London is a chapter of Global Legal Empowerment Brigades, an international movement of students and attorneys providing legal education and financial resources for vulnerable families to resolve legal challenges. We focus our work with women in remote, rural, and under resourced communities who would otherwise have limited to no access to legal resources. Volunteers facilitate legal clinics with lawyers to provide pro-bono consulting and the financial resources for community members to help resolve cases. nnIn conjunction with our Legal Empowerment Program, Global Brigades also supports communities with healthcare, economic development, clean water and sanitation projects, and uniquely implements these programs in a holistic model to meet a community’s health and economic goals. Health Sciences FL Global Medical Squads SQUADS ABROAD

Health Sciences FL aims to improve health care access and sanitation infrastructure for children in under resourced communities abroad. Our Squad travels abroad to conduct mobile health clinics for children that include primary health care and vision and dental screenings. We also learn about and address some of the systemic issues behind preventable diseases in the community by implementing health workshops and building handwashing stations alongside local students. Each of our student volunteers has a donation goal to help cover logistical expenses while abroad such as transport, local staff, meals, insurance, accommodations, but most important, the year-round follow-up to our project by local staff to ensure the sustainability over time.
