“We are so accustomed to the comforts of "I cannot", "I do not want to" and "it is too difficult" that we forget to realize when we stop doing things for ourselves and expect others to dance around us, we are not achieving greatness. We have made ourselves weak.”

Fundraising Campaign Message

What is PoHE?
The Pursuit of Higher Education is 3-day, 2-night program hosted by HSAB on April 18-20th at UC Berkeley. This is an all-expense paid program, which includes transportation and housing. Mentees from central and Northern California come to UC Berkeley to engage in workshops about higher education. During the duration of the program, we will have the opportunity to discuss culturally sensitive issues in the contemporary Hmong community, explore the UC Berkeley campus, tour real dormitories, and work together to pursue higher education.

Hmong students have been historically underrepresented in higher education; thus, PoHE strives to address this issue by connecting high school students to college students and higher education systems in a way that is relevant to their own identities and experiences.
