SQUADS ABROAD

  • About SQUADS ABROAD
Welcome to the ENROLLMENT and DONATION pages for SQUADS ABROAD on the Empowered.org platform!

Squads Abroad empowers student organizations around the world to improve health and educational outcomes. Our Squads model matches adult-led school groups with community driven sustainable initiatives. Each Squad chooses a defined focus area, volunteer partner organization, and an enrichment project that our groups contribute towards and complete during their trip. Our volunteers provide people-to-people educational support as well as the tangible accomplishment of a much needed small construction project. Squads stay at our safe and private home-base accommodations and are guided by our professional staff from the native country. Squad programs also include fun and engaging cultural activities which provide a deeper cultural context and understanding.

Squads Abroad is a program of Global Brigades, a 501c3 international non-profit that uniquely implements a holistic model to meet community’s health and economic goals. Since 2004, Global Brigades has mobilized tens of thousands of students and professionals through skill-based programs that work in partnership with community members to improve the quality of life in under-resourced regions while respecting local culture.

Crean Lutheran HS - Global STEM

Crean Lutheran High School aims to provide access to clean water in rural under resourced communities through applying STEM skills. Our student volunteers work alongside local engineers to assess, design, and construct infrastructure projects that range from rainwater harvesters that supply drinking water for local schools to large scale community-wide water systems that pipe water directly into households. We need your help to reach our goals! Consider donating or joining our next Squad! We are a chapter of Squads Abroad, a 501c3 non-profit working to improve health, education and economic outcomes in the developing world with our parent organization Global Brigades.

Open Enrollment- STEM TeleSquads

STEM TeleSquads are an international collaboration to improve access to clean potable water in rural Honduran communities. Each TeleSquad is a live STEM case study that provides community access to potable water. Our bilingual on-the-ground teams guide students to survey land, assess water sources, and ultimately design a repair for a community- wide water system using the EPAnet software. TeleSquads enable volunteers to achieve the same learning outcomes as volunteering abroad, with even more community impact and significantly reduced costs, while limiting time away from school and any carbon footprint.
