Passionate About:

About 4 months ago I committed myself to GSE I have always been interested but, this year I put aside the time to volunteer for this amazing organization, that was started in our very own Sebastopol! Every Monday at 3:30 a dedicated group of teens, both boys and girls, gather at the Village Park Garden in Sebastopol to plant, turn beds, weed, harvest, and to give back to the community around us. This spring break Analy GSE is traveling to Panama, where we will strive to help reforest the Manabí reserve in Panama’s rain forest. Not only with we be planting, but we will be making international partnerships and learning about the diverse culture and people of Panama. We will be working side by side with other high school students who we share common ground with. When I return I will have a better understanding of the devotion people have across the world to make a change and hopefully I’ll pick up on some Spanish. A donation of any kind would be greatly appreciated. The total trip costs 2,889.00 dollars.

Volunteer Activity Message

TRAVEL.
Traveling with GSE involves everything from staying in the biodiverse rainforest in Panama to visiting the Panama Canal. Students enjoy authentic cuisine and collaborate on local projects with Earth Train in the community of Margaritas.

LEARN.
GSE uses hands-on service-learning projects and cultural exchanges to provide students with life changing learning opportunities. Students develop ecological literacy and participate in grassroots international relations while building crucial 21st century skills such as communication and collaboration.

IMPACT.
This will be one of GSE's pilot trip to Panama. Therefore students will have the opportunity to participate in building stronger local partnerships, break ground on the first school garden projects in the community of Margaritas, and work with local students to reforest trees at the Manabi reserve in Panama's rainforest.

GROW.
Plants aren’t the only things that grow! International travel facilitates profound transformation for students. Students leave the trip with a better understanding of different cultures and people, inspiring them to become change makers and leaders in their own community.
