VOLUNTEER MATCH AND PROJECT PROPOSAL- $1500 GROUP PROJECT DONATION GOES TOWARDS:

LA CANDELARIA SCHOOL- La Candelaria is a small community with about 400 families located in the province of Coclé, in the district of Penonomé in West Panama. Children in the community have access to preschool, which includes students ages 3 to 5, but have to travel to other communities for primary and secondary schools. Most of the community members work in agriculture. The top needs expressed by parents of students in La Candelaria include access to a primary school and making improvements on the existing preschool.

PROJECT PROPOSAL- Our squad will work on the construction of two themed (2) reading corners at La Candelaria Preschool. The school consists of one classroom, which is where you will build the reading corners. One reading corner will have the theme of Language (Spanish/English) and one will be themed on Science. You will be responsible in every aspect of the execution of this project, from helping create bookshelves to revamping the space by staining and painting furniture. You will beautify the classroom by painting vibrant murals on the walls. Your group will also ensure that the students have materials for reading in Spanish and English and learning about science. In addition, your group will lead educational workshops with the students of the school. Throughout the week, you will develop meaningful relationships with these students and community members and your squad will make a profound and lasting impact in the community!
