Global Brigades, is a US 501c3 nonprofit recognized for its international health and sustainable development work. Through an evidence-based model, we work alongside local staff and community members to design and implement projects that tangibly improve lives in partner countries. Kambia is a program of Global Brigades set out to transform global education by enhancing university and college curriculums aligned to the health and development work our teams implement. Global Brigades supports communities with healthcare, economic development and clean water projects, and uniquely implements these programs in a holistic model to meet a community’s goals. Our model systematically builds community ownership and collaboratively executes programs with the end goal of sustainably evolving to a relationship of impact monitoring. Mr. Vasco Guerrero’s Oven

Fundraising Campaign Description

During a recent virtual program in Panama, students worked closely with Mr. Vasco Guerrero, a home baker who has been facing challenges due to a broken and unreliable oven. At one point, he had to use a piece of wood to keep the oven door closed, and it has since stopped working entirely. To continue baking, Mr. Vasco has been relying on a neighbor’s much smaller oven, which limits his ability to produce enough goods to support his business. The team has identified a replacement oven that can be purchased in Panama City and delivered to his home, providing a more sustainable and affordable solution. This fundraiser aims to help cover the cost of a new oven so Mr. Vasco can continue growing his business and supporting his livelihood.
