North Central College Medical KAMBIA Virtual March 2022 Honduras

Volunteer Activity Description
Global Brigades offers Medical TeleBrigades, a virtual international medical volunteer program for people who care about equitable access to healthcare. During a Medical TeleBrigade, participants have the opportunity to apply and build upon their medical knowledge through skill-based volunteering, foster cultural competency through virtual immersion, and deliver real impact through our local team by participating in live medical urban clinics and supporting rural clinics. TeleBrigades align with/fit in/supports Global Brigades’ initiatives to actively break down the barriers that people face by allowing them to attain proper medical services regardless of their location or socioeconomic status. Rural clinics reach partner communities on a quarterly basis, while our urban clinic provides daily services and facilitates professional medical care and access to medicine at low cost. All year round, our in-country team maintains relationships with the communities to provide follow-up and to conduct Community Health Worker (CHW) trainings to empower local leaders to sustain a consistent level of healthcare. Electronic patient records are collected for future visitations and to monitor overall community health trends.
