This May, I have the incredible opportunity to travel to the Dominican Republic on a medical mission with One World Surgery. Out of many applicants across our organization, I was honored to be selected as one of only 38 volunteers participating in this trip.

During the mission, our team will work alongside local medical professionals to provide surgical care and support to patients who otherwise would not have access to these life-changing procedures. For many individuals and families, this care can mean relief from years of pain, the ability to work again, or simply the chance to live a healthier life.

My employer, ProHealth (part of Optum and UnitedHealth Group), is generously covering the cost of the mission itself. The only expense volunteers are responsible for is airfare to get there. I’m raising funds to help cover my travel so I can focus fully on serving patients and supporting the mission.
